Education – both in the UK and globally – is being transformed by the growth of digital content and technology. At the same time, continuous professional learning and the acquisition of new skills has never been more important for adults post-education.
We believe there is a compelling macro environment creating opportunities to invest in companies which are re-defining how education and training services will be provided, meeting the needs of students, the government and industry in innovative ways.
Our involvement in the education sector builds on many years of experience. Patrick McKenna, founder of Ingenious, is chair of the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship (ICCE) at Goldsmiths. The organisation delivers graduate courses in creative and cultural management, enterprise and entrepreneurship to students wishing to develop careers in the creative industries.
Patrick has also been chair of the National Film and Television School’s (NFTS) Board of Governors since 2013. During this period, the NFTS has pursued several major growth initiatives including a £20 million redevelopment programme, doubling the availability of courses and student places, as well as launching new teaching capabilities in Glasgow (NFTS Scotland, in 2018) and Leeds (in 2019). Ingenious CEO, Neil Forster, was a trustee of the school between 2014 and 2020 and was a member of the School’s Audit & Risk Committee for the same period.
Alongside this, our work in the media sector for over 20 years has always meant that we have embraced the perfect marriage of great content and innovative technology and we see significant similarities in the education sector.
To consolidate our expertise, in 2018, we launched the Education Advisory Board.
