In the space of just seven days, education technology company Mindful Education has won two awards for its blended learning professional courses delivered in partnership with UK colleges.

The first award win came at the Learning Excellence Awards 2021 in the Design, Content Creation and Video category, with the judges commenting that:

“The calibre of entries was high; the diversity of entries was exciting; the breadth of companies submitting entries was inspiring”.

A week later, Mindful Education then took home Best Study Resource for their AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma course at the annual PQ Magazine Awards, which recognise the very best learners, practitioners and providers in accountancy training.

Congratulations Mindful Education on taking the partnership concept to new heights. We know how hard you have been working to ensure AAT students can continue their journey. Offering the level 3 course, free of charge, to 144 colleges in the first lockdown and benefiting 3,000 students. Well done Mindful Education…an absolute worthy winner.

Commenting on the two award wins, Mark Mckenna, Mindful Education’s founder and Managing Director said:

It’s wonderful to win both of these awards.

The education landscape has changed dramatically in response to the pandemic and it’s clear that the demand for high-quality blended learning solutions is growing rapidly, with both learners and employers wanting a combination of high-quality online learning and engaging face-to-face classes.

We take great care and pride in the quality of our course design, video content and technology, so it’s fantastic for our team to be doubly recognised. We’ll continue to focus on new ways for our courses and apprenticeships to meet the needs of learners and employers during 2021 and beyond.

Mark McKenna

Founder at Mindful Education

Mindful Education partners with more than 55 colleges across the UK to deliver media-rich professional courses in accounting, management, law and human resources, delivering learning to thousands of students.

Mindful Education has been named Edtech Company of the Year at the Global Business Tech Awards 2021 at a virtual awards ceremony held on 17 June.

Mindful Education had previously won this category at the UK Business Tech Awards in 2019, but this time faced tough competition from established international edtech company D2L – creators of the Brightspace online learning platform.

We are extremely impressed with this entry, which solves real user problems and improves real user journeys…The showreel was also brilliant. A standout winner!

Global Business Tech Awards 2021

This is the third award win in the space of just a few weeks for Mindful Education, following wins at the Learning Excellence Awards and PQ Awards.

We are delighted to be named EdTech Company of the Year! It is especially pleasing that the three awards we have won this year have each recognised different aspects of our work: Firstly, for our design and content creation; then the quality of our courses; and now for our overall impact for learners.

From speaking with colleges, teachers, learners and employers, the pandemic has focused attention on the quality of educational media, and how the digital, media and face-to-face elements of a course combine to deliver a brilliant learning experience. Our team works consistently on how best to blend these different elements across our products, services and partnerships, so it is wonderful to see that focus and dedication recognised.

We are delighted that Ingenious-backed Mindful Education, a London-based education technology company, took home the Study Resource of the Year award at this year’s PQ Awards 2019, held on Tuesday 26 February.

The PQ Awards have been a fixture in the accountancy industry calendar for over 15 years. Hosted in London’s West End, the awards bring the sector together to celebrate the successes of part-qualified accountants, and those that help them achieve their goals.

The shortlist for this year’s award included Kaplan Financial, the London School of Business and Finance, and BPP Learning Media.

Judges for the award cited the impressive pass, merit and distinction rates achieved by colleges who use Mindful Education’s accounting solutions, as well as how Mindful Education were making flexible study possible for learners.

Both learners and employers are increasingly asking for high-quality, flexible courses that provide the knowledge and skills required to progress in the workplace.

Start-up education companies like us have a vital role to play in this so we are thrilled to have been recognised.

Mark Mckenna

Managing Director of Mindful Education

Mindful Education was shortlisted last year and goes one better in 2019.

The judges were impressed at how their solution reduces in-class time by 60% and recognised the impact Mindful Education has made in the sector since 2017. They felt this is a product that works for both learners and colleges.

We are delighted to announce that we have won Most Impactful Investment at the 2018 Growth Investor Awards. We are also proud to have been a finalist in the non-AIM category for Best BR Investment Manager. The awards celebrate those who successfully deploy investment into high potential businesses and recognise the impact beyond that investment. Winners were announced on Wednesday, 7 November 2018 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

Our win for Most Impactful Investment commends our investment in Mindful Education, an award-winning content and technology company specialising in creating innovative, flexible professional courses and apprenticeships. Mindful Education partner with colleges around the UK to deliver pioneering courses that meet the needs of students, government and industry.

The investment made by Ingenious enabled Mindful Education to significantly increase their product range, further expand their sector-leading work in analytics, grow their team size to 34 and increase their marketing capacity – all without compromising on the quality of their content and technology. The company has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2015 and is now working with 18 colleges around the UK – keeping them on track for their 1,000th learner to start a course in January. Like the judges, we have been impressed by the impact such a young company has had on the sector and wider community.

I am delighted that the work of our investment team and of the Mindful Education team has been recognised with this award. This achievement recognises our extensive sector knowledge and operating experience and how we are able to bring these skills to support the ambitions of fantastic growth businesses.

The taxpayer-funded Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) council have announced they are to fund nine new university-led creative clusters along with an associated Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC) for the cultural and creative industries.

This commitment to a creative industries clusters programme forms part of the Government’s Industrial Strategy and specifically part of the ‘sector deal’ announced earlier this year.

We’re delighted with this news and welcome the commitment. We’re also pleased to make our own contribution to the pursuit of knowledge in the creative sector by part-funding Michael Franklin’s post-doctoral research on examining the understanding and management of risk in the film industry in collaboration with the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship (ICCE) at Goldsmiths in the University of London.

Michael’s research enquires into the need for new digital-business models in the film industry: it is commercially focused but also academically rigorous. It serves as a model for the kind of industrially focused and commercially aware R&D work the new Policy and Evidence Centre should undertake on behalf of the sector.

Ingenious is proud to have been investing in entrepreneurial businesses since our inception in 1998. Over this time, we have helped many innovative companies grow and develop to fulfil their potential.

We are therefore delighted that Mindful Education, one of our investee companies, has ranked 19th in the EdTech 50, a nationwide survey celebrating the people, products and projects that are impacting education.

Mindful Education specialises in creating media-rich professional courses & apprenticeships. The company helps their partners prepare for change by working together to create new and innovative courses that meet the needs of students, government and industry. Their aim is ‘to set a new standard in the digital delivery of education.’ This is a great reflection of the company’s outstanding work and we look forward to future achievements.
